Are these rates live?
Yes. The converter loads live mid-market exchange rates and refreshes them automatically every 60 seconds while the page is open. The exact time of the rate is shown under the result, and each rate is cross-checked against a second live source.
Why is my bank rate different?
Banks and money changers add a margin. They buy foreign currency below the mid-market rate and sell it above it. Use this converter as a fair reference, and ask your bank for its TT buying or selling rate before a transaction.
Which rate should I use for GST, customs or books of accounts?
For imports, customs uses the exchange rate notified by CBIC every fortnight. For income tax (Rule 115 / TDS on foreign payments) the SBI TT buying rate of the relevant date is used. FBIL reference rates are commonly used for accounting. Ask us if you are not sure.
