GST returns — common questions
What happens if I file GSTR-3B late?
A late fee of ₹50 a day (₹20 a day for a nil return) applies, up to a maximum, plus 18% yearly interest on tax paid late. Delays also block your customers’ input tax credit.
Can I still file very old pending returns?
Not forever. From 2025, a GST return cannot be filed after three years from its due date. Clear old pending returns now, before they become time-barred.
Why does my GSTR-3B not match GSTR-2B?
Usually because a supplier filed late, filed under the wrong GSTIN, or you booked a bill in a different month. Our monthly reconciliation shows each mismatch with the supplier name.
What is the last date to claim missed ITC?
Input tax credit for a financial year can be claimed till 30 November of the next year, or the date of filing the annual return, whichever is earlier. For FY 2025-26 this is 30 November 2026.
Is GSTR-9 compulsory for small businesses?
Businesses with turnover up to ₹2 crore are currently exempt from filing GSTR-9. GSTR-9C (reconciliation statement) applies above ₹5 crore.
Can you file returns from my Tally data?
Yes. Send your Tally backup or Excel sales and purchase registers. We prepare the returns and send you a summary before filing.
