How it works
- GST 2.0 from 22 September 2025: two main rates — 5% and 18% — plus 40% for luxury and sin goods. Gold and silver stay at 3%.
- Add GST: amount × rate. Remove GST: amount ÷ (1 + rate) gives the taxable value.
- Sale within your state = CGST + SGST (half each). Sale to another state = IGST.

Common questions
What are the GST rates after GST 2.0?
From 22 September 2025, most goods and services are taxed at 5% or 18%. Luxury and sin goods are taxed at 40%. Gold and silver stay at 3%.
How do I remove GST from an amount that includes GST?
Divide the amount by (1 + rate). For example, ₹11,800 including 18% GST ÷ 1.18 = ₹10,000 taxable value, and GST is ₹1,800.
When is CGST + SGST charged and when IGST?
CGST + SGST (half each) applies when the seller and the place of supply are in the same state. IGST applies when they are in different states.
